Lots of activity going on – Set offer dates and Bidding wars are still the norm. This year prices are expected to rise by about 4-5% but will continued to be balanced by lower borrowing costs.

After much speculation that interest rates would increase, recent oil price slides have resulted in the Bank of Canada actually surprising the markets by cutting interest rates by 0.25%

Over the last 2 weeks much has been said about Canada’s Real Estate market being overvalued by as much as 30%. We just came off a close to record year and yet Royal Lepage forecasts GTA prices to rise another 4.5% this year (a slower pace rise but still significant).

During this time of year I try to visit with as many people as I can, if even only for 5 minutes for a quick hello. Social media is fabulous but to me, nothing replaces a real live face to face meeting! My only regret is that despite best efforts it’s not possible to meet with everyone.

The madness continues throughout the month although the focus for most is not home selling or buying. A seasonal slowdown is occurring and hopefully a mild winter will ensue. Despite the slowdown, November was active and overall supply of homes has gotten even tighter.

The holiday season is here! Calendars are being filled with work parties, social gatherings; homes are being turned upside down as Christmas decorations are being unpacked throughout.

Good morning everyone; I hope everyone has adjusted to the time change and are not feeling too down with it becoming dark at 5pm now! Winter is definitely in the air and the real-estate market in the GTA is starting to slow a tad. Having said that, inventory is still low and bidding wars are common.

Happy Halloween everyone; I love to see all the Facebook posts with the kids and the wonderful super cute costumes.   Tonight, my sons will sport a retro Air force pilot and Spiderman garb.  I plan to dress up as Mr. Clean (super ez for me).   Please be safe and stay warm while enjoying this dog…

Monday the Mayoral elections take place and it may have a direct impact on the Toronto real estate market. Last election, Rob Ford had a campaign promise to repeal the City of Toronto Land Transfer Tax but of course it’s still present.
