Many of us have now begun cheering for our secondary teams in the world cup. As stated last week I’m not a huge or knowledgeable soccer fan but I do like the atmosphere that the world cup creates in our city. I also really enjoy watching many people cheer for “their country”. With much horn honking and flag waving it’s a fun time overall.

Another glorious weekend awaits us and the Toronto patios are calling us to enjoy a bottle of suds while taking in a World Cup soccer game. Although I’m not a big soccer fan, it’s hard not to get excited and drawn in by the energy that is created around the city as everyone cheers on their team. Many adopt a team for the tournament and are just as passionate for the 3 weeks of Futeball. I cheer for whichever teams my sons’ route for. Right now it’s Mexico (I can’t figure out why?). Of course being of Italian and Portuguese background they route for those teams as well but not out loud as they are scared to see their teams possibly lose.

This week the focus was mainly on the Provincial Election which saw a Liberal majority win. The Greater Toronto Real Estate Market as whole remained consistent. That is, short supply and much more demand. I am expecting a slight summer slowdown in over all transactions as the summer months come upon us. This has been the norm.

Toronto Real Estate Board President Dianne Usher announced that both the number of home sales through the TorontoMLS system and the average selling price were up strongly in May compared to a year ago. Total TorontoMLS sales for May 2014 amounted to 11,079 – a new high for the month of May.

Toronto Real Estate Board President Dianne Usher announced that during April – the first full month of spring – Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported a 1.8 per cent year-over-year increase in sales through the TorontoMLS system. Total April 2014 sales amounted to 9,706, compared to 9,535 transactions in April 2013.

A very good friend and client of mine was featured in the Globe and Mai yesterday in the Small to medium Business section. Claudio David, owner and president of the company Office Coffee Solutions is poised to earn over $6 million in revenues this year with more than 30 employees. And, it all started with a lie!

Spring is finally here. The only way you can be certain that spring has arrived is not by the weather, it’s the fact that the Toronto Maple Leafs are not in the playoffs! (Insert Rim shot here!)

Next week I will be able to share the March housing sales results with full reports and charts. I expect the same story to play out, i.e “No inventory, pricing up roughly 5-7% versus same time last year”. In February GTA (416 and 905) saw an average price increase of 8.65% and active listings down 12% (average days on market were also down to 26 days from 28 days). All versus same time period last year.

I hope the first day of spring this past week was an enjoyable one. I left my snow-blower at the curb last Thursday. After 10 years of faithful service it virtually blew up. I think despite it being busted, the action was more of a “take that winter I’m done with you!” – We have received 8cm of snow since and it is still way too cold! Really?
