A very good friend and client of mine was featured in the Globe and Mai yesterday in the Small to medium Business section. Claudio David, owner and president of the company Office Coffee Solutions is poised to earn over $6 million in revenues this year with more than 30 employees. And, it all started with a lie!

Sellers and real estate agents will advertise the top-selling features of a home in order to attract the largest number of potential buyers. However, be careful what you say. If it turns out wrong later, you may have to pay for it. Here’s why: Hussain Al-Saffar bought a detached home at 68 Salem Ave. in…

Spring is finally here. The only way you can be certain that spring has arrived is not by the weather, it’s the fact that the Toronto Maple Leafs are not in the playoffs! (Insert Rim shot here!)

Next week I will be able to share the March housing sales results with full reports and charts. I expect the same story to play out, i.e “No inventory, pricing up roughly 5-7% versus same time last year”. In February GTA (416 and 905) saw an average price increase of 8.65% and active listings down 12% (average days on market were also down to 26 days from 28 days). All versus same time period last year.

More and more Canadians are buying rental residential real estate for investment purposes. These properties offer in most cases, stable income that pays almost all expenses, with a real estate asset that will typically appreciate in value in the long term. However, there are many pitfalls with becoming a first time landlord. The good news is that with the assistance of a professional property manager, you can be protected and have peace of mind that your investment will be secure for the long term.

I hope the first day of spring this past week was an enjoyable one. I left my snow-blower at the curb last Thursday. After 10 years of faithful service it virtually blew up. I think despite it being busted, the action was more of a “take that winter I’m done with you!” – We have received 8cm of snow since and it is still way too cold! Really?

The real estate markets are going a little crazy in Toronto and Vancouver, with out of control bidding wars, primarily for detached homes under 1 million dollars. Experts say it is because there is not enough supply. In some cases, over 20 offers are received and the successful buyers are paying sometimes tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars over the asking price. What’s worse, many buyers are putting offers in without any conditions whatsoever, hoping this will sway the seller to accept their offer.

This week the weather has been all over the place but the real-estate market is consistent. Below is a link to a great video that will provide an overall outlook to the Canadian Housing market this year. Another robust year is expected! In some markets a slight cooling is forecasted but super tight free hold inventory and low interest rates will make the GTA market quite active with pricing still slightly increasing.
