Despite the fact that Weston has developed quite a bit over the years, it still has a small town feel that attracts both residents and visitors. This is due in large part to the area’s many landmarks, including the Humber River and the local Railway.

To go along with the small town look and feel, the Weston Santa Clause Parade is held every year to get the people of the community in the mood for the holiday season.

History
Although the name has changed over the years, people have been living in Weston since the 1790’s when it was known as “The Humber.”

In 1828, the Wadsworth brothers moved to the area and eventually renamed it Weston after their original home in Weston-super-Mare, located in England.

Weston was incorporated as a town in 1915, and remained independent from the rest of the area until 1967 when it joined forces with former Borough of York.

Homes
Weston is well known for its large variety of Victorian homes, many of which date back to the mid 1800’s.

From the 1940’s through the 1960’s, the north portion of Weston was developed with ranch style and Tudor homes.

Thanks to the recent increase in activity, many new housing developments are blooming in Weston.
