Located in the beautiful Humber River Valley, Thistletown is a desirable neighbourhood coveted by people from a variety of backgrounds.

Thanks to its long history, advantageous location, and friendly people, it is not uncommon for many second and third generation residents to raise their families in this community. In other words, many people who grow up in Thistletown never leave.

History
Originally known as Coonats Corner, the area known now as Thistletown was settled in the early 1800’s.

Over the years, the area changed time and time again. During the early 1900’s, several summer cottages and year round homes were constructed. It was not until the 1950’s and 1960’s that most of the farms gave way to the real estate boom. During this time, the neighbourhood was developed into what is seen today.

Homes
There are many types of homes, ranging in age, located throughout Thistletown. For instance, Old Thistletown is located between Islington Avenue and Albion Road. It is here where some of the oldest and most valuable homes are situated.

The oldest homes in the neighbourhood date back to the 1830’s, however, the majority of properties were constructed between the 1940’s and 1960’s. Styles include bungalows, story and a half, and split level homes.
