Humberlea is known for being a quiet, secluded, family oriented neighbourhood that is home to a variety of people from all backgrounds.

Although the original population of this neighbourhood consisted primarily of those of British descent, a growing number of Italians have settled down in the area.

History
Like many parts of Toronto, Humberlea was a farming community through the mid 1900’s.

During the 1940’s, following the end of World War II, some of the land was sold to the federal government for the Humberlea subdivision. Veterans of the war were gifted a quarter acre home site on which small properties were constructed.

While many of these are no longer standing, some still remain.

Homes
The oldest homes in the neighbourhood were built during the early 1900’s, however, the majority were constructed during the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Despite the historical value of these older properties, many have been replaced by more modern custom homes.
