Fairbank (Briar Hill-Belgravia)

Fairbank (Briar Hill-Belgravia)

Access to local highways and public transportation, combined with reasonable home prices, have made Fairbank a popular place to live for people from all walks of life.

Fairbank is well known for its topography, including the many rolling hills that make up the neighbourhood.

History
The name Fairbank comes from “Fairbank farm,” which was owned by one of the first settlers to the area, Matthew Parsons.

Early development began in the 1860’s when a school house, hotel, and post office were constructed.

By the 1890’s, development of Fairbank hit a high with the addition of a station along the Belt Line Railway. Then in 1924, the Toronto streetcar railway began servicing the neighbourhood.

Homes
There are many types of homes in Fairbank, ranging from those constructed in the early 1900’s to postwar developments to new construction. Additionally, there are multiple apartment complexes on the outskirts of the neighbourhood.
