When it comes to family friendly neighbourhoods in Toronto, there are not many with more allure than Bloor West Village.
In addition to its many award winning schools, the community is within close proximity to High Park. This gives people of all ages the chance to spend time outdoors, taking part in a variety of activities.
Bloor West Village is also known for its popular retail district, which caters to locals as well as shoppers from many other parts of the city.
History
During the 1850’s, the area known as Bloor West Village was occupied by Colonel William Smith Durie of the Queens Own Rifles.
In 1909, the neighbourhood as it is seen today began its development when the first roads were paved.
While the first residents of the area were of Eastern European descent, in today’s day and age the community is home to a variety of people.
Homes
The homes of Bloor West Village are unique in the way that most were constructed during a brief period of time, spanning from 1912 to 1923. For this reason, the majority of the properties in the area have a similar style.
Most of the homes in the neighbourhood share many of the same original features, such as hardwood floors, front porches, and fireplaces.
