When it comes to quiet, family friendly neighbourhoods in Toronto, Woburn is undoubtedly one of the best.
The tree-lined, winding roads give the area a distinct look and feel. Combine this with plenty of parkland, moderately priced homes, and close proximity to a variety of local landmarks and venues, and it is easy to see why so many call it home.
History
Although Woburn originally went by the name of Elderslie, this all changed in 1856 when a post office set up shot in the Woburn Inn.
The Woburn Inn is no longer in existence, as it was knocked down during the 1950’s during the development of the neighborhood. That being said, a large historical marker still stands in the area as a tribute to Woburn Inn.
Homes
The majority of homes in Woburn were constructed during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Home styles consist of two story, split level, and bungalows along with some townhouses.
Woburn is also known for being home to many apartment complexes, most of which are located on Lawrence Avenue East.
Pricing
Homes in Woburn are among the most affordable in the area, with average starting prices of $200,000 and a top end of roughly $400,000.
