While South Hill does not always receive the recognition it deserves, this neighbourhood has plenty to offer thanks to its variety of housing options and central location.
With its close proximity to both business and entertainment districts, South Hill attracts many up and coming professionals.
Additionally, the neighborhood is located nearly many of the top public and private schools in Toronto. This makes it a great place for growing families to settle down.
History
During the mid to late 1800’s, South Hill began to become a popular area to live. During this time, some of the largest mansions in Toronto were constructed – many of which were unique to the area at the time.
Today, many of these homes still stand including the popular “Spadina House” at 285 Spadina Road and Sir Henry William Pellatt’s property.
Homes
If nothing else, the homes of South Hill are well known for being among the largest in Toronto. Along with this, many of the homes exhibit original features as well as view of downtown.
The first wave of homes in South Hill were built between 1890 and 1920.
Over the past 20 years, a few townhouse developments have been constructed in South Hill. Additionally, there are luxury rental apartments in this long standing neighborhood.
