While Moss Park is one of the poorest communities in all of Toronto, it is important to note that it does a lot of good for the people of the city.
Moss Park is known as being one of Toronto’s largest public housing projects, but that doesn’t mean that the neighbourhood has nothing to offer.
For example, the Salvation Army Hostel is located in Moss Park. Along with this, it is home to the Moss Park Armoury, which is a well known training enter for the Canadian Armed Forces.
History
What you see in Moss Park today is not the same as what you would have seen in the past. This neighbourhood has a long history, dating back to the 1830’s.
During the mid 1800’s, the area became known for its large Victorian houses. Unfortunately, most of these were destroyed in the early 1960’s to make way for the Moss Park Apartment complex.
Homes
As noted above, Moss Park was once home to a variety of Victorian homes. However, this is no longer the case. Instead, the neighbourhood is comprised of three apartment complexes. All of these buildings are set back from the street. To the surprise of many, there is plenty of green space in Moss Park coupled with a network of roads that serve the community.
