Deer Park

Deer Park

Unlike many upscale neighbourhoods in Toronto, the homes of Deer Park are not isolated from the rest of the area. Instead, the properties that make up this community are located in close proximity to one of the busiest entertainment districts in the city.

The homes of Deer Park are within walking distance of St. Clair Avenue and Yonge Street, meaning that residents can easily access the business district as well as plenty of shopping venues, restaurants, and other entertainment options.

Despite its close proximity to the business district, Deer Park still “feels like home” t hanks to plenty of full-grown trees, lush landscaping, and green parkland.

History

Deer Park received its name in 1837 from the Heath Family, one of the first in the area.

By the time the 1850’s rolled around, several homes were built in Deer Park. Along with this, the community was home to a school, general store, and hotel – all of which were located at the intersection of St. Clair Avenue and Yonge Street.

It was during the 1930’s that Deer Park began to receive recognition as one of the top residential communities in Toronto.

Homes

The majority of homes in Deer Park were constructed during the time period spanning from 1875 to 1920, making the properties among the oldest in the city.

While not as abundant as the detached and semi-detached homes, Deer Park is home to some new townhouse and apartment developments.
