There are many neighbourhoods in Toronto coveted by young families, however, Sunnylea is definitely at the top of the list. From the Mimico Creek to the mature trees to the sidewalks, there is a lot to like when it comes to the overall appeal of this community.

History
Sunnylea dates back to the early 1800’s when Alexander Thompson purchased 200 acres of land in the area.

By 1907, things began to change when the first Sunnylea school was constructed. Then in the 1930’s and 1940’s, most of the old farmland was subdivided for residential developments.

Homes
The majority of homes in Sunnylea were constructed during the 1940’s and 1950’s. There are many styles of homes, with the most popular including: split level, bungalows, two story, and story and a half.

The oldest homes in the neighbourhood are Tudor style properties located closer to Bloor Street. Many of these homes feature unique, original amenities such as bay windows, wrought iron railings, and Riverstone exteriors.
