When it comes to diversity, both economic and cultural, there are not many communities in Toronto that can compete with The Elms. With a location in close proximity to the Humber River Valley, there are many parks throughout the area coupled with lush landscaping.
History
The Elms is named after the old Elms Golf Club, which used to be a fixture of the community. Over the years, the site of this club, a well as Pine Point golf course, was developed with new homes.
The majority of homes in The Elms were constructed during the 1950’s and 1960’s, much like many other neighborhoods throughout the city.
Homes
Although most of the homes were built during the 1950’s and 1960’s, there is still plenty of diversity. The most common styles include split levels, ranch, bungalows, one and a half, and two story homes.
The Metro Toronto Housing Authority owns several low rise apartment complexes and townhome developments in The Elms.
