History
Bendale is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Toronto, being settled in 1796. During the early years many historical landmarks were constructed including the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in 1849.

Bendale was originally named Benlomond after the local post office. In 1881, the name changed to Bendale once it was found that the name Benlomond was being used elsewhere.

The neighbourhood as it is seen today began its development in the early 1950’s.
