Located in the north west portion of Toronto, Smithfield is bordered on three sides by the Humber River Valley. Many people are familiar with this community as the home of Humber College and Etobicoke General Hospital.

History
The history of Smithfield dates back to the 1830’s when Robert Smith, the person for whom the community is named, was a top landowner.
For more than 100 years, development continued which included the original Smithfield school.
The present day neighborhood began development in the 1960’s, at which time a new school was opened to replace the original.

Homes in Smithfield are as old as many parts of the city, with most properties being built during the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s. Additionally, there are several new home developments as well.
The most common home styles in Smithfield include two story, bungalow, and split levels.
Subsidized apartment buildings and townhouse developments are also available in large numbers.
